WHAT IS A MASTER PLANT DIETA?

A Master Plant Dieta is a profound opportunity to cleanse, learn and heal through the power of the teacher plants; expanding our awareness so that we can live in greater alignment with our higher purpose, releasing that which does not serve our lives through this ancient healing tradition.

ABOUT MAESTRO GILBERTO MAHUA

Papa Gilberto has learnt from the plants and his ancestral lineage of curanderos. His first dieta was at the young age of 11, lasting for approximately 12 months. He has since been committed to a path of dieting and curanderismo. Now, at age 77, he continues to transmit and share the grace of the grandmother medicine. He is an exceptional Maestro of the Palos, embodying a very strong connection with different plant doctors (master plants) that have the power to heal us on many different levels.

Master plants available to diet: Chiric Sanango · Bobinsana · Noya Rao · Huaira Caspi · Ayahuma · Machinga

THE LOCATION

The Ucayali region of the Peruvian Amazon is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. The vast, living jungle is threaded by the powerful Ucayali River — a major tributary of the Amazon, and home to extraordinary wildlife including pink river dolphins, macaws, jaguars and countless medicinal plants. To diet in the Ucayali is to diet in the place where the medicine was born.

We will be dieting in the village of Paohyan — a Shipibo indigenous community situated right on the banks of the Ucayali River, approximately 6 hours by motor boat from Pucallpa, Peru. The Ucayali region has been home to the Shipibo-Konibo people for centuries — one of the great guardians of Amazonian plant medicine.

The dieta centre, Sama Nete Xobo, is held by Gilberto Mahua and his family. Each participant is assigned a tambo — a small, basic wooden hut with mosquito nets, some furnishing and a small patio for hanging a hammock.

We will start and end this journey in Pucallpa at Manish Eco Hotel — Green Key certified, with lush gardens, a swimming pool, and an Amazonian restaurant with a dedicated dieta-friendly menu.

THE MASTER PLANTS

BOBINSANA — Often referred to as the Princess of the Jungle, Bobinsana is best known for her work on the emotional body — a deeply heart-opening Dieta that helps release grief, loss, trauma and emotional wounds. Not recommended if you are trying to conceive.

CHIRIC SANANGO — Works directly with the central nervous system, strengthening your system and spirit. It enhances the dream world; teachings can appear through your dreams long after the Dieta is complete.

NOYA RAO — Called the Tree of Light, its leaves are known to shimmer in the dark. Almost extinct and extraordinarily rare. The Mahuas are guardians of this very special plant spirit. Highly purifying, illuminating and deeply transformational.

AYAHUMA — A powerful plant doctor offering deep protection and a better understanding of all other teacher plants. One of the strongest Palos — usually not dieted until at least a couple of other Dietas have been completed.

MACHINGA — Recommended for people who have endured physical trauma. Works on both the physical and energetic levels, addressing the imprints of injury stored in the body long after the visible wound is gone.

GRANDMOTHER MEDICINE (Ayahuasca) — Works in synergy with the Master Plant you are dieting, deepening the healing process. In ceremony, the Maestro’s icaros guide, protect and direct the healing experience.
